LaToshia Donald Parker
As a former teen mom raised in challenging socioeconomic conditions, I know what it’s like to navigate life with limited resources and big dreams. I’ve experienced firsthand the systemic barriers that often stand in the way of pursuing a career in healthcare—especially for African American women.
Many of these women balance school, work, and family while striving to enter a field that hasn’t always been inclusive or accessible. I founded Pathway to Practice to change that.
Nursing—particularly advanced fields like Nurse Anesthesia—needs more diversity. When patients see providers who look like them and understand their experiences, it fosters trust, communication, and better outcomes.
Pathway to Practice exists to empower African American mothers to achieve their nursing dreams and to create a more inclusive, compassionate, and equitable healthcare system for everyone.
